Message from City Manager Deanna J. Santana

Dear Santa Clarans,

Just this past week, we remember the dead and those we lost 20 years ago on September 11. Honor Guards from the Santa Clara Police and Fire Departments joined the community for the September 11 Remembrance Ceremony at the town hall of Santa Clara.

On September 15, the City of Santa Clara with The Core Companies and the community celebrated the grand opening of Agrihood to begin construction of an affordable housing development at 90 North Winchester Blvd. This unique public-private partnership will provide 361 new housing units to residents of Santa Clara, including 181 dedicated units at below-market rates for seniors and veterans, and 1.7 acres of open space with 5,000 square feet for retail and community space.

This week, the Independent Redistribution Commission launches the 2021 Redistribution with an orientation meeting on September 23. Visit the Electoral redistribution web page to participate in the public process. From September 25 to October 3, Silicon Valley Power will offer free electric vehicle charging at all Santa Clara public facilities available on the Network of charging stations on the occasion of National Electricity Week.

As the fall season approaches, we are still experiencing the COVID-19 pandemic a lot, with cases of COVID-19 variants on the rise. The continued spread of COVID-19 may impact our ability to provide services and, if so, we will continue to provide updates through social media, this bi-weekly post and to SantaClaraCA.gov/Coronavirus to keep Santa Clarans informed.

In the community spirit,
Deanna. J. Santana
