Christian Pulisic is speeding up his return from injury, but the USMNT superstar might not be ready for at least a week.

There is some positive news regarding his recovery, however, as the Chelsea winger missed out on the victory at Tottenham, but after that victory Thomas Tuchel provided an update to ProSoccerTalk.

Pulisic, 23, injured his ankle in USMNT’s 4-1 victory in Honduras on September 9 and has been out since.

But Chelsea hope to find him very soon.

What’s the latest Christian Pulisic injury update?

Ask by ProSoccerTalk On a possible timeline for Pulisic’s return, Tuchel said Wednesday’s League Cup game against Aston Villa could come too soon for Pulisic.

Tuchel added that Pulisic was working hard at Chelsea’s training ground today (Sunday) and his form depends on how this session goes.

“I think for Christian in the game against Aston Villa [in the Carabao Cup in midweek] maybe a little too close, ”Tuchel said. “I hope I’m wrong but that’s my impression. He’s not in training at the moment but we’ll see tomorrow. Maybe if he had a good progression today, maybe it is possible. It would be super nice for us to have it, but for me it’s a bit dubious.

It looks like the huge Premier League clash against Manchester City on Saturday 25th September will be the next time we get to see Pulisic, at the earliest.

What happened with Pulisic this season?

The Pennsylvania winger had just returned from a period of rest due to testing positive for COVID-19 as he then needed to regain full physical shape.

Pulisic has started the 2021-22 domestic season well, scoring a penalty kick in Chelsea’s final UEFA Super Cup victory and scoring in the matchday one victory over Crystal Palace.

However, as was the case for much of his young career, injuries hampered his early start to the new season and he hasn’t played for the Blues in over a month.

Good news for the USMNT

Whenever Pulisic returns for Chelsea, it’s pretty clear that he’ll be fit to play in their World Cup qualifiers in October.

This is obviously great news for Gregg Berhalter. USMNT will face Jamaica, Panama and Costa Rica in October and they look to be decisive clashes as these latter two nations have started qualifying well.

Pulisic wore the captain’s armband in two of the three USMNT World Cup qualifiers last month (he only played two after missing the game in El Salvador) and is clearly the talisman of the Stars and Stripes.

Even a 75 percent Pulisic has to start for the USMNT.
