Syracuse, NY – Four other Onondaga County residents died from Covid-19 over the weekend, County Director Ryan McMahon said today.

He said on Twitter that the four were: a man in his 60s, a man in the 80s, a woman in the 70s and a woman in the 90s.

In the first seven days of September, McMahon reported six deaths from Covid-19. In the past seven days, the death toll has risen to 11.

This brings the county’s total Covid-19 deaths since the start of the pandemic in early 2020 to 751.

The county confirmed 558 new cases of Covid-19 from Saturday to today, McMahon said. That’s a slight drop from last weekend’s total of 575, he said.

McMahon said the number of people in the hospital rose from 96 on Friday to 90 today, with 19 patients in intensive care. Of those in intensive care, 17 were not vaccinated, McMahon said.
