Richard Dean Wagoner passed away peacefully at home on September 8, 2021.

Memorial services for Richard will be held on Saturday, September 25, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at Garwin United Methodist Church. Tours will start at 10:00 a.m. before the service. He was the oldest of five children of Otha Samuel Wagoner and Grace Irene Holmquist Wagoner in Marshalltown on May 1, 1928. He attended a country school near Albion and graduated from Legrand High School in 1946. In 1947 , Richard married his high school girlfriend, Janet Elaine Long at Le Grand Friends Church.

Richard was a master carpenter and built their first home at Grand. In 1961, they moved to the family farm south of Garwin. Richard worked as a welder at Lennox for 38 years and was a full time farmer. He embraced the virtues of hard work and could build or fix anything. He was a staunch member of The United Methodist Church.

Richard was predeceased by his eldest son, Mark Richard Wagoner and by his beloved wife, Janet; his parents and brothers, David and John Wagoner.

His memory remains to be cherished: his sons: Ted (Pam) and Tim (Glenda) and his daughter, Teri; grandchildren: Jason (Jane)

Wagoner, Chris Wagoner, Ryan Edwards and Ramsey Wagoner; great-grandchildren: Thomas, Lillan, Eugene IV, Earon and Daphne; Brother William Wagoner; sister Mary Kennedy and several nieces and nephews.
