RUSSELL – Two people were injured in a crash involving a car and a tractor-trailer Tuesday night on Highways 23 and 91 in Minnesota.

A woman from Montevideo was rushed to Avera Marshall Medical Center with life-threatening injuries, the Minnesota State Patrol said.

The crash was reported at 5:14 p.m., state patrol said. A Chrysler 200 driven by Xaiveor Mikhail West, 21, of Granite Falls, was traveling northbound on Highway 23 when it collided with a southbound Peterbilt semi-trailer driven by Kody Dean Poeckes, 26, of Sioux Center, Iowa.

West suffered non-life threatening injuries and was transported to Avera Marshall. A passenger in West’s vehicle, Jennifer Jade Labatt, 22, of Montevideo, was also transported to Avera Marshall with life-threatening injuries, the state patrol said.

Balaton Fire and Ambulance, Russell Fire and First Responders, Tyler Ambulance, North Memorial Ambulance and the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office all responded to the crash scene.
