Illinois COVID Update Today: Reports 3,002 Cases, 23 Deaths

CHICAGO (WLS) – Illinois Department of Public Health officials on Tuesday reported 3,002 new confirmed and probable cases of COVID-19 and 16 related deaths.

There have been 1,601,759 cases of COVID in total, including 24,661 deaths in the state since the start of the pandemic.

The preliminary positivity of the seven-day statewide test from Sept. 14 to 20 is 4.1%.

In the past 24 hours, labs reported testing 73,732 samples for a total of 30,793,840 since the start of the pandemic.

As of Monday evening, 2,039 Illinois patients were in hospital with COVID-19. Of these, 497 patients were in intensive care and 261 patients with COVID-19 were on ventilators.

A total of 14,354,101 vaccines were administered in Illinois on Monday. The seven-day moving average of vaccines administered daily is 19,366. As of Sunday, 14,249 vaccines were administered.
