Can a vaccinated and socially active young person transmit the virus to a vaccinated elderly person?
While vaccination is our best defense, it is not 100% and it is possible, although unlikely, for the virus to spread even between people who have been vaccinated. The good news is that either person is also unlikely to develop serious illness and that is why we always recommend using a mask for an extra layer of protection.
I will soon have to return to work in an office with an employer that does not require employees to be vaccinated, but only to wear a mask and encourage self-monitoring. I am fully vaccinated, as are my family members. I’m worried about taking the virus home to a family member with a weakened immune system. Is it possible to bring COVID back to my family from this environment?

It is certainly possible. Getting every employee vaccinated would be better to reduce the risk of spread, but at least they need masks.
I am a little afraid of mRNA technology. What is the long term effect? How long has mRNA technology been tested and are there other vaccines that use mRNA?
The technology of mRNA vaccines has been in development for about 30 years, and mRNA vaccines have been studied in the past for infections like zika and rabies. COVID mRNA vaccines are the first to be tested and delivered on a large scale beyond human pathways. It is important to note that Pfizer’s mRNA vaccine now has full FDA approval.
After COVID sets in, how long before the patient is no longer spreading the virus?
Typically, isolation to prevent spread can be completed 10 days after symptoms appear and after all fever has resolved for at least 24 hours with other symptoms improving. In people with weakened immune systems or who have had a more serious illness requiring hospitalization. For example, a doctor may recommend a 20-day isolation period.

I recently received my annual screening mammogram. I was asked the last date of my vaccination and which arm was injected. Could this have an impact on my screening results?
The vaccine may temporarily swell the lymph nodes in the armpit, especially on the injection side. Which, in turn, can make a mammogram falsely suspicious. That’s why they want to know how recent your vaccination was.
