FREWSBOURG – A resident of the town of Allegany was injured and later charged in a car accident on Monday evening.

According to the Carroll Police Department, at around 6 p.m. Nicholas R. Scolton, 25, was heading northeast on Wheeler Hill Road at high speed when he lost control of his vehicle while going around a sharp bend. Scolton’s vehicle crossed the opposite traffic lane, rolled off the roadway and struck a cluster of trees. He was stuck in the vehicle and needed to be extricated. Due to the extensive damage to the vehicle, it took approximately 40 minutes to extricate it.

He was transported to Hamot Medical Center in Erie via Stat Medevac.

Chautauqua County Emergency Medical Services and Frewsburg and Kiantone Fire Departments responded to the scene.
