VFW Wonder Woman 5K run / walk
Ramona VFW Post 3783 hosted their second annual Wonder Woman 5K Run or Walk on September 19 at Kelly Avenue Station.
About 30 VFW Post and Auxiliary members, the local community, and visitors from across the state came together for the fun 8am run or walk to promote strength and positivity in the Ramona community. The special guest was the VFW State Commander of the California Department, Dawn “Dusty” Napier.
The event took place on a 3.1 mile course in the neighborhood around the VFW station. It was organized for fun and to raise awareness of patriotism, rather than coordinated as a fundraiser, said Alexis Henshaw, junior district vice-commander for VFW’s first district. Individual participants could keep track of their own time if they wished, she said.
“Wonder Woman represents patriotism, strength and justice and that’s what we stand for at VFW,” Henshaw said. “Why not share it with everyone?” “
The idea of a Wonder Woman run / walk has grown over the past few years, starting with a handful of local participants in a similar large-scale run / walk at Qualcomm Stadium. Since then, a virtual race has taken place in Ramona that has allowed participants to roam their own neighborhoods during the COVID-19 pandemic.
12th annual music festival
Ramona Kiwanis hosted the 12th Annual Musicfest at the Ramona Outdoor Community Center on September 18th.
The event featured music from Steal Dawn, Matchbox Twenty Too and Summer of Love as well as a large children’s play area, silent auction, raffle baskets and food, beer and wine.

Taste of Ramona
The Ramona Chamber of Commerce’s seventh annual Taste of Ramona will take place from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, October 9.
Participants can spend the day exploring the food and drink that Ramona’s restaurants and wineries serve.
Participating restaurants include Pinto Thai, Ramona Noodle House, Marinade on Main, Short and Sweet Bakery, Jersey Mike’s Subs, Rubio’s, Tropical Pineapples and Ramona Family Naturals.
The event will raise funds for educational grants to support programs in the Ramona Unified School District, organizers said.
Tickets cost $ 25 each and are available online at ramonachamber.com/product/taste-of-ramona/. Please bring your printed receipt or email receipt on your phone and your ID to collect your ticket.
Sponsorship opportunities range from $ 75 to $ 750. The top tier, a caviar and champagne sponsor, includes first place on all commercials, company name and logo exposure on all Taste of Ramona media and promotions, weekly lunch mention live with the room and eight Taste of Ramona tickets.

Auto Festival
The AutoFest takes place from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Sunday, October 10 between 6th and 8th streets of Main Street in Ramona.
The organizers accept vehicles of all makes, models and years, including cars, bikes, trucks and all-terrain vehicles. Prizes will be awarded for all classes.

Ride the motorcycles
The Ramona Motorcycle Rally 2021 will take place from 10 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday, October 16 and 17 at the Outdoor Community Center, 421 Aqua Lane.
The Chamber of Commerce event will be presented by Indian Motorcycle of San Diego. It includes two days of motorcycle-related events and the fifth annual Ride in Motorcycle show with personalized trophies and prizes. The show will take place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday and the registration fee is $ 25.
Other events include mini-motorcycle races in the Rodeo Arena on Saturday and Indian Motorcycle factory demonstration truck dyno races on Sunday.
Additional entertainment includes motorcycle rodeos and games, groups, biker movies, and Indian motorcycle demonstrations. Oktoberfest craft beers will be available with vendors and the campsite.
Bands performing on Saturday include Farm Truck at 5 p.m., Bonneville 7 at 6 p.m., Nancarrow at 7 p.m., Sara Petite at 8 p.m. and Bastard Sons of Johnny Cash at 9 p.m. On Sunday, the group Stone Horse will perform at 3 p.m.
The price of admission is $ 10 per day or $ 15 for a weekend pass.
Funds raised will go to Ramona Chamber of Commerce scholarships and education grant programs.
