The Montgomery County Health Department announced the 76th coronavirus death in the county on Monday, September 20, the second this month.

September’s two COVID-19 deaths come after three months without pandemic deaths during the summer months of June, July and August. Before the deaths reported on September 2 and 20, the previous one was reported on May 12.

After 18 new cases of COVID-19 Friday, eight Saturday, six Sunday and 12 Monday, the local positivity rate for the past week is 6.2%, down from a local positivity rate of 8.1% for the month of September. .

The Illinois Department of Public Health reports that 53 doses of the vaccine were administered in Montgomery County in the previous seven days; 43.26% of people in the county are fully vaccinated.

The local health department continues to offer all three vaccinations at its main office on Route 185 in Taylor Springs from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. every Monday and Thursday. All three vaccines are available (Moderna, Pfizer and Johnson & Johnson). Clinics are walk-in, but if curbside service is required, it is available. Simply call the health department (217-532-2001) when you arrive and tell them that you need an injection in your vehicle.
