Rogers City, Shelby, Hart and West Branch are four of 11 communities in the state that receive grants to improve water infrastructure.
The Michigan Economic Development Corporation provides nearly $ 15 million in grant funds for community development of water-related infrastructure.
CDBG’s Water Infrastructure Program helps low and moderate income communities make improvements or upgrades to their existing public water, sewer and sanitation infrastructure systems . Grants are awarded to eligible communities on a competitive basis and can be used to upgrade or replace water pipes, water main and related facilities, as well as sanitary and storm sewer lines and related facilities. .
“As we accelerate Michigan’s economic growth, it is absolutely critical that we invest in our infrastructure to support that growth and ensure a bright future for all Michigan residents,” said Quentin L. Messer, Jr., CEO of MEDC and Chairman and Chairman of the MSF Board of Directors. “Today’s grants will allow these communities across our state to make the improvements necessary to remain vibrant and attractive places for businesses to invest and where talent wants to live, work, visit and play.”
“The WRI grant will have a profound impact on the entire Rogers City water system.
