Black Lotus follows a replicant as she searches for clues behind her mysterious past in a post-Black Out 2022 world.
Some time before the release, Blade Runner: Black Lotus is the latest entry in the legendary and iconic cyberpunk sci-fi series. A joint American-Japanese collaboration, the anime expands the universe of Blade runner through the veneer of the cyberpunk anime he inspired.
Several years of preparation, Black lotus follows a replicant as she searches for clues behind her mysterious past in a post-worldBlack Out 2022. Along the way, she meets several other characters, some of whom may return from the franchise’s original entry. With sleek visuals and a starry voice cast, the show is sure to impress fans, as well as anyone looking for an action-packed cyberpunk adventure. Here’s what we know so far about the still pending CGI Blade runner TV shows.
The plot of Blade Runner: Black Lotus
Black lotus focuses on a replicating female (or android) named Elle, who wakes up not knowing who or what she is. However, she quickly discovers her deadly abilities, making the mystery even more relevant to solve. Her only clues are an esoteric locked device and a black lotus tattoo, both of which send her on a quest to find out who she is and who left her in this situation.
The series is set in 2032, ten years after the events of the animated film Blade Runner: Black Out. This film also took place three years after the original film – given the length, it’s no wonder classic characters are promised to appear throughout the story. The show’s creators also want to go beyond which has already been done with the franchise, with the animated nature of the series likely helping to make this possible.
Blade Runner: The Black Lotus Trailer
The trailer for the series dropped a few months ago, giving fans a taste of how the tone and direction of the series matches the films. The frame looks a lot like the Blade runner series, although things don’t seem as mysterious and dark as they usually are. The hand-to-hand combat action is also much more accentuated, and given the character design of She and computer generated animation, comparisons with the two Battle Angel Alita and Ghost in the shell are easy to do.
Basic plot layouts are provided in the trailer as well, with Elle waking up not knowing who she is but quickly using her advanced defense techniques. From there, she is hunted down by a mysterious man who orders the elimination of the Black Lotus, hinting that he knows a lot more about her past than she does.
