Fans who travel to UB Stadium on Saturday for the homecoming soccer game against Western Michigan will need to bring proof of vaccination to enter.
The New policy takes effect tomorrow and requires spectators to prove that they have received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.
Checkpoints will be set up outside the stadium along Augspurger Road – one at the south end near the stadium parking lot, another at the north end near the pitch for the Alumni Arena. Staff will be placed there to check vaccination status before fans are allowed to go to the gates.
A vaccination card, a photo of a vaccination card, an Excelsior pass or a digital vaccination card are all acceptable. Participants should also be prepared to show photo identification. Those without proof will be turned away; those with an exemption will also not be allowed to enter the stadium.
Fans may want to arrive a bit earlier.
“We hope this will be a fairly quick process and that we don’t have too much congestion ahead,” said Eric Gross, deputy director of sports for field operations. “But we always encourage fans to come early and take advantage of the pre-game pageantry.”
Tailgating begins at 9 a.m., with the march to victory set for 9:30 a.m. The free Tailgate concert featuring Nerds Gone Wild starts at 10:15 a.m. Kick-off is at noon.
Unvaccinated children under 12 will still be allowed to play but must wear a mask at all times.
For the rest of the fans present, they will no longer be required to wear masks when they are outside in the stadium. However, they will still need to wear masks indoors, including in the lobby and club-level suites.
Internal policy will be posted on signage throughout the stadium and made public in public announcements throughout the match.
By October 30, when the Bulls are at home against Bowling Green, fans will have to show they have completed their vaccination streak.
