The Enhanced Oil Recovery Institute (EORI) at the University of Wyoming is one of the sponsors of a December 6-9 conference in Midland, Texas that will focus on carbon capture best practices and tested innovations in the field.
The Midland CO2 Conference is hosted by Steve Melzer, member of EORI’s Technical Advisory Board, and one of the guest speakers is Wyoming Energy Authority Executive Director Glen Murrell.
As one of the centers of excellence of UW’s School of Energy Resources, EORI facilitates significant and measurable increases in recoverable reserves and production of oil and natural gas in Wyoming that might otherwise not be carried out.
Among the planned activities and themes of the conference:
Monday December 6 – Field visit to the West Seminole CO2 flood project near Midland.
Tuesday, December 7 – Workshop on Carbon Management for Enhanced Oil Recovery by CO2, “New Policies and Incentives”.
Wednesday December 8 – Carbon capture and storage projects underway or planned.
Thursday December 9 – CO2 improved global oil recovery and Permian Basin case stories.
Along with EORI, the conference is co-sponsored by the Permian Basin Section of the Society of Petroleum Engineers.
