Idaho Falls
IDAHO FALLS, Idaho (KIFI) – Many jobs and job seekers gathered at the Shilo Inn in Idaho Falls on Thursday for a career fair.
Over 50 companies set up personal booths and tables to try and promote the openings they had in their business.
Many job seekers included those who were unemployed and still employed. Many of these unemployed were teenagers looking for their first work experience. Some of those who were currently looking for a job were mainly looking for better pay and better conditions.
Many companies have had a serious labor shortage problem. A trucking company reported a loss of 10 to 15 drivers. A farming company had to reduce the number of lines, which also reduced their wages and overall profits.
It also doesn’t look like this issue will be resolved anytime soon. The current unemployment rate is below 3% and is expected to decline further. It’s a good sign for Idahoans to have jobs, but bad for businesses that are in desperate need of more hands.
