Jaguars vs Bengals live updates: Thursday night score, stats, news and highlights

As the final two No.1 picks in the NFL Draft, Joe Burrow and Trevor Lawrence inherently went to organizations that were at a low point of talent and success. Once on the list, the first results on the scoreboard continued.

But despite similar results – the Bengals went 1-2 in Burrow’s first three career games and the Jaguars 0-3 in Lawrence’s – were there any similarities in their opening game? QB? In a way, yes, but not exactly.

Both QBs started less than six yards per attempt, Burrow at 5.82 and Lawrence at 5.67. The two threw five touchdown passes in their first three games. But they diverge from there.

Burrow had an interception to go with those five touchdowns. Lawrence has seven interceptions, which ties fellow rookie Zach Wilson for the top of the league. Burrow faced more pressure, being sacked 14 times against Lawrence’s five. But despite this, Burrow’s completion percentage was significantly higher at 64.54 versus Lawrence’s 54.24. And their ratings followed that pattern as well, with Burrow at 89.0 and Lawrence at 60.3.

It’s still so early in both of their careers, so no, it’s not an attempt to draw any conclusions. But at first, Burrow was more careful with the ball and more precise too.
