Election talk on the economy and finances of NJ

New Jersey’s economic climate and state of its public finances were the main topics of discussion at the third online forum hosted by NJ Spotlight News as part of its “NJ Decides 2021: Election Conversations” series.

The hour-long forum, held on Tuesday, September 28, looked at issues related to the state’s budget and taxes, including property taxes – a constant concern for New Jersey residents . New Jersey’s economy and ongoing efforts to recover from the coronavirus pandemic were also hot topics for this roundtable.

Participating panelists were Christopher Emigholz, vice president of government affairs, taxation and economic development for the New Jersey Business & Industry Association; Dr Charles Steindel, former chief economist of the New Jersey Department of the Treasury; and Sheila Reynertson, senior policy analyst at New Jersey Policy Perspective.

The moderators were NJ Spotlight News business correspondent Rhonda Schaffler and NJ Spotlight News budget / finance writer John Reitmeyer.
