COVID-19 regional report Thursday
Calaveras County Public Health reports 1 new death from COVID-19, man in his 60s. A total of 74 deaths of Calaveras residents are attributed to COVID-19. There are 36 new cases of Covid since yesterday’s report. Active cases have increased to 53, including a Covid hospitalization. There are 9 new cases aged 0 to 17 and 9 new cases in people aged 65 or over. Since the start of the pandemic, Calaveras has had 547 Covid-19 positive children aged 17 and under and 612 Covid-19 positive aged 65 and over. Calaveras vaccinated 53.3% of its eligible population.
Tuolumne Public Health reports 27 new cases of COVID-19 since Wednesday’s report with 218 active cases including 4 hospitalized. Active cases in the Tuolumne County community were below 200 for 8 days until today, they were above 200 for 49 days between August 2 and September 19 with a maximum of 407 active cases. In the previous outbreak, active cases were over 200 for 36 days between November 15 and December 20 with a maximum of 350.
The current total case rate, an average of 14 days for Tuolumne County, is down to 41.9 from 43.3 per 100,000 population. A total of 4,609 have been released from solitary confinement after testing positive for COVID-19, there have been 103 deaths and 1,620 inmate cases none of which are currently active, for a total of 6,550 positive cases for COVID-19.
New cases reported today include 7 cases aged 17 or younger and 7 cases aged 60 and older. Of the 27 new community cases, 23 were not vaccinated and 4 were vaccinated. Of the population of Tuolumne eligible for vaccination, 59% were vaccinated.
