HONOLULU – Under the direction of the President of the United States, Governor David Ige has ordered that the United States Flag and the State of Hawaii Flag fly at half mast on the State Capitol and on all offices and state agencies as well as the Hawaiian National Guard in the State of Hawaii on Sunday, October 3, 2021.

This action serves to honor the National Fallen Firefighters Memorial Service. President Biden proclaimed October 3-9 Fire Prevention Week to honor our courageous firefighters and first responders who put their lives at risk for their fellow Americans on a daily basis.

“Our firefighters risk their lives every day to protect our community, sometimes even making the ultimate sacrifice, to keep us safe,” said Governor David Ige. “Like President Biden, I encourage everyone to educate themselves about safety and fire prevention so that we can protect our heroes and prevent the tragic loss of life.”
