GOOSE CREEK – Authorities are investigating a shootout on Old Black River Road that killed an unidentified person on October 2.
MPs responded to Northside Lane around 7:30 p.m. to reports of gunfire, said Carli Drayton, spokesperson for the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office.
MPs found one person on arrival who had died at the scene of the shooting, Drayton said. The Berkeley County Coroner’s Office did not disclose the identity of the person.
The sheriff’s office is investigating the case. MPs did not confirm whether a weapon was recovered at the scene. They did not announce any suspects.
The shooting comes days after the September 27 shooting in a neighborhood just east of North Goose Creek Boulevard, where another unidentified person died of a gunshot wound to the head. Two people have been arrested in connection with this fatal shooting.
