RICHMOND, Virginia (AP) – The owner of the gun who officials say used a 14-year-old boy to kill a 13-year-old girl has been charged with contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
The Richmond Times-Dispatch reports that Richard M. Pierce appeared in Henrico County Juvenile and Family Relations Court Thursday.
Henrico Commonwealth lawyer Shannon Taylor announced the new charge in a press release on Friday. Taylor did not detail Pierce’s connection to the boy, who also remained unidentified. But she had previously said someone in the boy’s house had a handgun the boy had access to.
Pierce will then appear in court on November 1.
Last month, Taylor announced that she would seek to have the youngster tried as an adult. A hearing is set for November 22.
The boy is charged with first degree murder in the death of 13-year-old Lucia Bremer. If he is tried by a juvenile court, he can only be detained until the age of 21. If he is tried as an adult, he can be sentenced to life in prison.
