Five candidates seeking two extraordinary seats on Fort Dodge City Council are on the ballot in today’s primary election.
The candidates are Brooke Bickford, Richard Higgins, Quennel McCaleb, Eugene Newsome and Councilor Lydia Schuur.
The first four to win the vote will go on to the general election on November 2.
Polling stations will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.
A list of polling stations is listed below and a map of their locations is attached.
Bickford manages Bickford Realty at Fort Dodge; Higgins and Newsome are retired; and McCaleb is a student support and transition specialist for the Fort Dodge Community School District. Schuur, who is running for her second term, is the communications specialist for the Greater Fort Dodge Growth Alliance.
A primary election is not necessary for the mayor or any of the four council seats elected in the wards due to the small number of candidates in these races.
