Matthew Ford Mize, 38, Minot, is charged by Minot District Court with possession of class B felony with intent to deliver methamphetamine, class C felony possession of methamphetamine, two counts of class C felony possession of drug paraphernalia, class C felony fleeing a peace officer in a motor vehicle, class B felony driving with a suspended driver’s license, class B felony violation of a restricted license and possession of marijuana, an offense.
According to a probable cause affidavit filed with the court, Mize fled at a speed approaching 100 mph, leading law enforcement into a chase and potentially endangering other drivers, after a deputy of the Ward County ordered him to exit his vehicle at gunpoint outside a Ruthville business. The chase ended when Mize hit a strip of spikes. His vehicle flew over a rock and landed in a ditch at 1:28 pm Mize complained of back and neck pain after the accident and had to be extricated from the vehicle. When the door was removed from the vehicle, a plastic bag containing 15 grams of methamphetamine fell out. There were also meth pipes and several empty plastic bags in the vehicle. Mize had another plastic bag in her pocket that contained one gram of methamphetamine and $ 132 in cash. Mize was taken to hospital. MPs continued to search the vehicle and found other empty plastic bags, a digital scale and other pipes that had been used to smoke marijuana or methamphetamine. The vehicle Mize was driving was reportedly stolen on September 8, but the registered owner had not finished filing a police report.
Mize was scheduled to make a first appearance on the charges on Tuesday.
