The Green Bay Packers missed out on acquiring cornerback Stephon Gilmore, but the team made two additions, including the expected signing of linebacker Jaylon Smith.
While a former professional bowler who totaled 100 or more tackles in three consecutive seasons, Smith was unceremoniously released by the Dallas Cowboys on Wednesday, making him a free agent. And now he has a second chance at Green Bay.
Smith is a great story, but it’s worth noting that the Cowboys purposely took over $ 7 million from dead ceiling space to move on.
The Packers have long needed help with the inside linebacker, but is Smith the right fit? Will it be a good move for Matt LaFleur’s team? Can Smith and De’Vondre Campbell be a solid duo in the midst of the Packers’ defense?
