Kyrie Irving could retire if traded by nets

Some NBA members believe Kyrie Irving could retire, or seriously consider it, if the Brooklyn Nets were to trade him. Irving is currently unable to play in Brooklyn Nets home games due to his non-vaccination for COVID-19.

Despite the idea that a trade with Irving’s Philadelphia 76ers for Ben Simmons could resolve both teams’ issues, there is no indication that it is being considered.

Rumors have circulated that the Nets are wary of Irving’s part-time availability and the impact it could have on their season. Recent reports have indicated that Brooklyn’s hopes are waning that Irving will be available to play in home games this season. For their part, GM Sean Marks, coach Steve Nash and Irving’s teammates have repeatedly said they understand Irving has a personal decision to make. Everyone has said they would like Irving to be available to play, but will not pressure him.

In recent days, New York City has determined the Nets’ training facility to be a private office building. This allows Irving to train with his teammates in the domestic market.
