Most people spend almost every waking moment trying to provide for the basic necessities of life. These things are needed, food and shelter everyone should have them. The problem is, many allow these things to become idols for them.
When this happens to people, they decide they want more and more.
Everyone should realize that this life is not all there is, for there is eternity to think about. Man is not like animals because God breathed the breath of life into man and man has a soul (Genesis 2: 7). Put idols aside and focus on serving God.
Those who only think and work on the physical things in life are often disappointed because these things can go away. Jesus said, “But first seek the kingdom of God and his righteousness; and all these things will be added to you ”(Matthew 6:33). In the previous verses, Jesus spoke of flowers that grow in the wild and their beauty. Jesus spoke about birds.
They don’t belong to anyone, some might plant seed for them, but God provides for them all the time.
Jesus then asked a big question. Isn’t man more important than the things of nature. Anyone who trusts in God and lives to live for God knows that even if earthly things are taken away, God is still there. He is a constant.
God must be part of everyone’s life. One should be willing to study the word of God and find out what God wants them to do. When studying the word, they should be motivated by the things they read.
Jesus the Son of God who voluntarily gave himself for humanity. “For while we were yet without strength, in his days Christ died for the ungodly. Because it is hardly for a just that one will die; yet, for a good man, some would even dare to die. But God recommends his love for us, in that, while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Even more, being now justified by his blood, we will be saved from wrath by him. For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we will be saved by his life.
And not only that, but we also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received atonement ”(Rom. 5: 6-11). As they study the Bible, they see the cruelty that Jesus suffered. It’s almost unbelievable that you can love another so much, but he did. Faith is produced in the individual by coming to know God through his word. This faith continues to grow as the individual grows spiritually (Rom. 10:17).
Such love manifested by God and by Jesus shows the need for man to have love in his life; The love that is ready to give back as Paul showed when he wrote to those in Rome. He said: “I am a debtor to the Greeks and the Barbarians; both the wise and the unwary. So, as much as I am, I am ready to preach the gospel to you who are also in Rome ”(Rom. 1:14 – 15). If a person has love to return, then he will willingly obey God and become his child. Then they will have love, the desire to transmit the saving message to others.
Looking at the apostle Paul, we see the great love he has for his compatriots. “Brethren, my heart’s desire and prayer to God for Israel is that they be saved. For I bear them record that they are zealous for God, but not according to knowledge ”(Rom. 10: 1, 2). When a Christian looks around, he sees that he is surrounded by family, friends, neighbors, coworkers, and others who have not learned of the love that Christ had for. them. As you follow Paul’s example, take advantage of opportunities that arise to share the gospel with others.
Everyone needs “things”, but certainly everyone needs “spiritual” things.
