Coaching Poll Top 25: Alabama Slips to No.5, Georgia, Iowa Take Top Two Places in College Football Rankings

Alabama’s first regular season loss since November 2019 cost them four spots in the coaching poll, as the Crimson Tide went from No.1 to No.5 after their 41-38 loss to Texas A&M on Saturday night. . Unsurprisingly, Georgia was the beneficiary of Alabama’s loss, dropping from 2nd to 1st place. This is the first time Georgia has been No.1 in the coaching poll since the 2008 preseason poll.

Elsewhere, Iowa enjoyed a 23-20 victory over Penn State, as the Hawkeyes went from No.3 to No.2, winning a vote for first place in the process. The Nittany Lions went from 4th to 8th place. BYU was the biggest loser and the only team to come out of the top 10, falling to 20th after losing to Boise State.

Meanwhile, Kentucky is only climbing three spots to No.11 after beating LSU to go 6-0 this season. Maybe the SEC bias only applies to a certain selection of teams?
