Prince of Tennis II anime gets 2022 U-17 World Cup TV series – News

The 20th anniversary event of The prince of tennis anime announced on Sunday that a new animated series, Shin Tennis no ji-sama U-17 World Cup (The Prince of Tennis II: U-17 World Cup), will be presented next year. This will be the first television series of the franchise in about a decade. The event featured a visual teaser featuring main protagonist Ryōma Echizen alongside Kunimitsu Tezuka and Hōō Byōdōin with the slogan “Towards a world as yet unseen …”. Keiichiro Kawaguchi (ISLE) returns from the last 2D anime, Prince of Tennis II Hyotei vs. Rikkai Game of Future, to lead the new series at Studio KAI and MSC, and Mitsutaka Hirota (Anime-Gataris, Nanbaka) supervises the scripts again. Akiharu Ishii (Blood +, Ultramarine Magmell) is back to design the characters and serve as the chief animation director.

Takeshi Konomi serialized The prince of tennis mangathis is the original break-in Shueisha‘s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine from 1999 to 2008. The manga follows middle school tennis player Ryōma Echizen as she faces her rivals to reach the national tournament. This original manga inspired a 2001-2005 television anime, two animated feature films and a theatrical short, various video animation projects, a live action film, a live action television series in China and a popular stage musical series.

Konomi then launched The Prince of Tennis II manga series in Shueisha‘s Skip SQ. magazine in 2009. The story picks up after the national tournament, when Ryōma joins a select group of college players at Japan’s best training camp for under-17 players. This on-going manga sequel spawned its own animated television series in 2012. The Prince of Tennis II. The Prince of Tennis II OVA vs. Genius 10 The series then ran for five volumes from October 2014 to June 2015.

The franchise inspired the Tennis no jisama BEST GAMES !! anime original video (THIS) project. The project tells the story of the franchisethe best matches of. The first one THIS began its two-week limited screening in Japan in August 2018, and shipped to Japan on Blu-ray Disc and DVD in October 2018. The second THIS received a two-week event screening in Japan starting in April 2019, then shipped on Blu-ray disc and DVD in June 2019. The third THIS screened in theaters in Japan for two weeks starting in November 2019, and shipped on home video in January 2020.

More recently, The Prince of Tennis II: Hyotei vs Rikkai Game of the future anime project released in two parts. Part 1 aired on February 13 and Part 2 aired on April 17.

The Ryōma! Shinsei Geki jōban Tennis no ji-sama (Ryōma! Rebirth Movie The Prince of Tennis) 3DCG Film for The prince of tennis franchise opened on September 3, having been postponed to spring 2020. The film presents a completely original story that takes place in the three-month period between the events at the end of The prince of tennis manga and the beginning of The Prince of Tennis II manga.

Media viewing published the 42nd and final volume of Konomi’s original Prince of tennis manga in North America in 2011. Crisp broadcast The Prince of Tennis II TV anime in multiple countries when it aired in Japan, and then aired the original derivative video animation projects. Funimation is now streaming or will air nearly all previous animes in the franchise nowadays.
