TO 0.77%
Chief executive Brian Goldner will be taking time off from his job as head of the toy maker to receive medical treatment, the company said on Sunday.
Hasbro did not describe the disease, but pointed out that Mr Goldner revealed in August 2020 that he was undergoing treatment that could cause him to lose his hair after treatment for prostate cancer in 2014.
The leave takes effect immediately. Rich Stoddart, previously Independent Lead Director of Hasbro’s Board of Directors, will assume the role of interim CEO, the company said.
In July, Hasbro announced that its second quarter revenue grew 54% on growth in its Wizards of the Coast and digital games segment. Like many companies, it has struggled to manage rising freight and input costs and bottlenecks as part of a wider squeeze caused by the pandemic.
The company reports its third quarter results on October 26.
