CNN host Jim Acosta highlighted on Sunday how former President Donald Trump openly admitted one of the key goals of his current election: attention.
At a rally in Des Moines, Iowa on Saturday, as he heavily teased a candidacy in 2024, Trump regurgitated his “stolen election” lie, telling supporters he never had conceded and that President Joe Biden “had not been elected”.
He admitted that the problem is the main one that keeps him in the spotlight.
“This is the biggest problem, the problem that gets the most attraction, the most respect, the most applause, is talking about the electoral fraud of the 2020 presidential election. Nobody does. never seen anything like it, ”he said.
Acosta later said Trump “just exposed the big lie” with this admission.
“He admits his lies about the election are ego juice. Just there to pump the crowd, which fueled the insurgency. And now we know he’ll take those crocodile tears away – the big lie is the loud cry, of course, as we’ve said before – all the way to the bank and maybe until the 2024 election. “
Trump has aggressively raised funds and maintained significant influence over the GOP since his defeat in last year’s election, while promoting false claims that he was rigged against him, allowing him to build a treasure trove of war of tens of millions of dollars.
He has not officially announced if he will run for president again in 2024, but has repeatedly hinted at doing so as he travels the country to organize campaign-style rallies.
