The Tesla Giga Berlin factory in Grünheide near Berlin is expected to be equipped with a state-of-the-art paint shop, which will be able to achieve exceptional color depth. It would be a nice upgrade from the current base offering in five colors (white, black, blue, red and gray).
At the recent Gigafactory Berlin-Brandenburg County Fair, Tesla showcased the factory, including the upcoming structural battery pack with type 4680 cylindrical cells, as well as several color-related displays of the German-made Model Y.
According to guest reports from Tesla Giga Berlin, Tesla teased the Model Y bodies (inside the factory) in two new colors: Crimson red and Deep blue.
There was also a fancy Model Y on display outside, which could be a demonstration of the paint shop’s abilities rather than an indication of a particular color.
Tesmanian also reports that there could be a third brand new color – “Color close to khaki”. An image posted on LinkedIn in mid-February as a recruiting indicates a dark green color and also a black color.
Either way, it looks like at least in Europe Tesla is going to step up its game in terms of painting. We will likely see something similar in the United States with the launch of the Tesla Giga Austin in Texas.
