American Airlines flight 4817, from Indianapolis to LaGuardia, Queens, was forced to perform an emergency landing and evacuation via the plane’s emergency slides on Saturday at 3 p.m.
The “security incident” began after a mother, who was traveling with her husband and children, noticed another passenger watching videos and viewing photos of vintage cameras, sources told New York Daily News.
She began to fear that the man was looking for instructions on how to make bombs.
When he pulled out his own vintage camera, she was convinced it was a bomb and alerted airline staff.

The pilot of the aircraft informed traffic control by radio that he had to clear the runway to make way for an emergency landing due to suspicious and erratic behavior by a passenger.
The plane landed far from the airport building and passengers were evacuated using the inflatable slides.
Once on the ground, the alleged suicide bomber was forced to lie face down on the tarmac and searched.
The traveler’s bags were also confiscated and searched.
It was discovered that they had a skateboard and other vintage cameras.
Video taken by other passengers showed firefighters surrounding the suspect as confused travelers pondered on the tarmac.
