Highman Donates Buildings to Allentown Police | Regional News from Lehigh Valley

Allentown, PA-The developers of Allentown have said they plan to donate part of the building so that Allentown Police can use it as a substation.

It will be located in the nightlife district where he said he needed the presence of a larger police force.

“If you don’t need zoning approval, that’s fine,” said Nat Hyman, CEO of Hyman Properties.

Heyman said it would only take the city a few months to see the new police station.

“The police want it, I want it, the mayor want it, so we can go there, and we’re going to start construction soon,” Heyman said.

Heyman tells us it will be in the Hamilton Street and American Parkway areas inside the building.

The 2,000 square foot space includes meeting rooms and other office resources.

“Of course this is an area of ​​Allentown that needs a better police presence. It’s no secret that the area has had part of the problem,” Heyman said.

Incidents in the region include a shooting in 2019 that injured several people.

A man was killed in a shootout on North Race Street in August this year.

Heyman tells us the location will give police an overview of the area.

“It will be a safe installation just for them,” Heiman said.

He said the substation will join the list of new things to come to the neighborhood, including the Nathan franchise, grocery stores and 700 newly built apartments.

“What we’ve done in this neighborhood of Allentown is try to create a new neighborhood,” Heimann said.

He said they predicted they could open a substation in the spring.
