Sunday's pollen count reached 4666 particles per cubic meter of air, its highest level since the beginning of the year, according to the Atlanta Allergy and Asthma Center. The Sunday count includes extremely high levels of pine, oak, gum, birch and sycamore pollen and a moderate level of grass.

It was still below the peak of last year which fell on April 12 with 5.354. But the Sunday count broke the highs for 2017 and 2016 with respectively 3.559 and 4.106.
The highest number recorded over the last decade is March 20, 2012, with 9,369 particles per cubic meter of air.
Anything over 1500 is considered extremely high and last year there was a dozen days at least. The pollen season usually extends until the end of April or early May, but varies from one year to the next.
In periods of extremely intense pollen like Sunday, the Atlanta Center for Allergy and Asthma recommends keeping the cars and windows of the house closed, cleaning or changing the air filters regularly, shower before going home and going to bed, wearing sunglasses and masks and taking off his shoes. the House.
