Volunteers and first responders continued Sunday to search for a 35-year-old woman who reportedly disappeared last week outside a Hawaii national park.

Amanda Eller of Haiku was reported missing Thursday after being found since 7:30 the previous day, the Maui police department said in a press release.

On Thursday, around noon, Eller's Toyota RAV4 was found in a parking lot in Makawao Forest Reserve, Maui County, officials said. According to a Facebook page "Findamanda", the authorities who found the car did not yet know that Eller had disappeared.

Eller's family thinks that she may have run into the National Forest because her teal sneakers were missing, while her wallet and cell phone remained in the interior.

"Amanda may have been running, it was her day off and it's a common place for her," said a missing poster for the 35-year-old woman. "It's also normal that she leave her cell behind her, her car key was found hidden under the driver's front tire."

Her friend, Sarah Haynes, told Hawaii News Now that "it is not extraordinary for her to go there," and added, "It seems to us at this point that it is up to the track gap – you know to have been injured, or perhaps fallen – or someone interrupted between his car and his race. "

Hikers in Makawao believe they saw Eller between 9:00 am and 10:30 am, and a couple thought they spoke to him, according to the Facebook group that found her.

"They had a puppy with them and she talked to them and patted her, she was happy and normal," said the post. "They are not 100% sure that it is her, but they have since watched videos of her and are rather confident."

A $ 10,000 reward was offered for information that would allow Eller's return safely. She has been described as 5 feet 9 inches, 145 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes.
