A 67-year-old man received a quote for failing to have insurance after hitting two children Friday night in the northwestern part of the island, Chicago police said.

Shortly before 8:30 pm, a 9-year-old girl and an 11-year-old boy went into the street in the 3,200 block of North Narragansett Avenue, where they were stranded by a 2001 Honda Civic, police said.

The children were taken to the Lutheran General Hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the Civic was quoted for not having insurance.
