WEST POINT, Utah (KTRK) – A mother in Utah is suing a school bus driver who allegedly intentionally dragged her son. She says the bus driver did it because he's racist.

The school bus video shows the backpack of the 14-year-old stuck in the doors when he was released. The bus begins to move, dragging it on several feet under the eyes of the students.

In a lawsuit for violating civil rights, the teenager's mother claims to have been targeted because he is biracial.

"I was happy that he did not kill him – I was happy that he did not go under the wheels," said the boy's mother.

When asked if he considered himself racist, the driver replied, "Not at all, look at my dog, he is as black as possible."

The driver says that he did not see the boy and would have stopped if he had done it.

The school district terminated the driver, claiming that they took seriously any complaints of racial discrimination.
