A Boston elementary school student tests positive for mumps

A third-grade student at a Boston elementary school has tested positive for mumps, school officials confirmed Friday night. The student attended Otis Elementary School in East Boston. "We do not think that the student has been in close contact with students from our school who are not vaccinated," she said in the note. "It is important to note that mumps can only be passed from one person to another by close contact." -6788.
