TAMPA, Fla. (AP) – Police said a bus driver in the city of Tampa had been stabbed by a passenger, currently in custody.
Police spokesman Steve Hegarty told the media that the suspect stabbed the driver on Saturday afternoon and then fled. The driver died as a result of his injuries.
The officers say that they approached someone who matches the description of the suspect, but that the man escaped. He was finally apprehended at the edge of a road and charged with resisting arresting him.
The authorities did not immediately communicate the names of the suspect or the victim.
Investigators said that there was no clear reason to stab him.
