In the meantime, he said the health system is preparing for distribution, which involves allocating freezers and training doctors, “so when a vaccine is ready and approved by the Food and Drug Administration, we will be ready to distribute it.
Pfizer is still awaiting safety data, which should be available by the third week of November, according to a press release.
Meanwhile, Jarrett expressed an increase in coronavirus-related hospitalizations in the healthcare system, which was expected given the growing number of new COVID-19 patients in the New York metropolitan area, he said.
