A job-by-job look at the Seahawks’ initial roster in 2021

Everett, Dissly and Parkinson were the expected trio from the start, but the only real question was whether or not the Seahawks could hold onto a tight fourth end, especially with Parkinson still on the sidelines with a foot injury. Seahawks coach Pete Carroll hasn’t ruled out a Week 1 return for Parkinson’s, and the Seahawks’ failure to keep another player there would seem to indicate his comeback is coming soon.

The Seahawks have typically carried nine or 10 linemen, but they like their depth both on the tackle and the inside line, and the emergence of undrafted rookie tackle Jake Curhan has made it even more difficult to narrow the roster.

The Seahawks have just three defensive tackles to Ford, Woods and Mone so far, but they’ve also used players like Collier, Green and Hyder as inside linemen, especially in quick passing situations. Taylor is set to be the strong starting linebacker, and Robinson has worked there as well, and both will feature in the pass rotation as well.

On the surface this sounds like a problem – teams need more than three linebackers – but it’s worth remembering that, as previously mentioned, Bellore has been linebacker for most of training camp and preseason. and played really well there, and that Taylor and Robinson, although listed as a late, also play a strong linebacker, so even with just three players listed as a linebacker, the Seahawks have essentially two depths in all three places.

Once again, former Husky Sidney Jones is expected to join this squad soon, and the four players retained were the four most likely to stay. But while predicting who made the squad may not have been that difficult, what’s still unknown is who of those players will start at the start of the season. It’s also worth noting that Marquise Blair and Ugo Amadi are the two better players in place of the nickel, so while four cornerbacks may not seem like much, the positional flexibility of these two makes the secondary deeper.

Another post that went as planned. The Seahawks have one of the best safety duos at Adams and Diggs, and a more than capable save at Neal, who started four games for Adams last season. Blair and Amadi have some time split between security and the nickel stain in the camp, so whoever doesn’t win the nickel job will also be available in security.
