MILWAUKEE – A man accused of firing at a Milwaukee home and killing a 13-year-old girl in his living room suddenly pleaded guilty at the beginning of the second day of testimony of his trial.

The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel newspaper reports that Isaac Barnes, age 26, pleaded guilty to first degree murder for first-degree irresponsible homicide, possession of a firearm by a criminal and for setting in motion danger of safety by using a firearm irresponsibly. As part of a plea agreement, prosecutors dropped a charge of intimidating witnesses.

Deputy Prosecutor Hanna Kolberg said that prosecutors would recommend jail time but leave it to the judge. The penalty is set for August 23rd.

Barnes was accused of killing Sandra Parks last November. Prosecutors said that Barnes' ex-girlfriend could have been the target of the attack.
