A Facebook page dedicated to researching Amanda Eller, 35, said in an article that she had been discovered at the bottom of a stream bed between two waterfalls. She was slightly injured and is being evacuated, the post added.
Hawaii News reported that she had been spotted by a helicopter Friday afternoon.
Eller, a Mechanicsville native and graduate of the East Coast of the University of Maryland, was last seen along a trail in the Makawao Forest Reserve, about 20 km from her home in New York. Haiku, on the island of Maui in Hawaii.
His sport utility vehicle and all his belongings, including his mobile phone, were found on a parking lot near the forest.
Sarah Haynes, a friend, said that a parcel delivered to her parents' home in North Carolina had been sent by Eller on the day of his disappearance. His family had offered a $ 50,000 reward for information about his disappearance.
