A massive new study of 347,077 people has just revealed exactly how much coffee you should drink each day. (Before the health hazards outweigh the benefits)

[ad_1]

The big question that remains unanswered, however, is whether there is a quantity of coffee that is actually "too much". Now, a brand new study of 347,077 coffee drinkers seems to have found an answer: the precise number of cups of coffee where health problems might begin to appear, and even outweigh the benefits.

Let's not hide the ball, by synthesizing several of the previous "positive" studies with the news from the University of South Australia suggesting an upper limit, we can come up with the perfect number: Five cups of coffee a day.

Here's the background, the new study, and why, with respect to coffee, the number five is a magic number.

First, drink more coffee

First, the benefits. Study after study, study after study, suggests real benefits to coffee consumption from a health perspective. As a coffee fan, I've followed several over the years, including:

If you go through all these studies, you conclude with the idea that drinking up to four cups of coffee a day could have beneficial health effects.

But if four is good, then what about five? And if five is good, why not 10?

But then, stop at 5

Although I consider myself a serious coffee drinker, the truth is that I would rarely do more than three cups a day: one or two with breakfast and maybe one afternoon.

According to this new study done in South Australia, however, I still have room before reaching the danger zone. The problem, once you've reached it, is the point at which increased stimulation can lead to heart disease.

"In order to maintain a healthy heart and blood pressure, people must limit their coffee to less than six cups a day – according to our data, the critical point was the tipping point where caffeine began to have a negative effect on cardiovascular risk, "said Professor Elina Hyppönen. from the Australian Center for Precision Health, one of the authors of the study.

Specifically, once you have reached six cups of coffee a day, the risk of heart disease increases by 22%, according to the study.

Maybe you are reading this again with your phone in one hand and a cup of coffee in the other, or leaving work to meet a co-worker. If this is the case, we have very good news - although, perhaps with a little warning.

During the last years, a series of studies have come to show that drinking coffee - in fact, drinking a lot of coffee - has significant health benefits. In fact, some have suggested that there might be great benefits to drinking copious amounts.

First, the benefits. Study after study, study after study, suggests real benefits to coffee consumption from a health perspective. As a coffee fan, I have followed many over the years, including:

    t

  • A study in which researchers funded by the American Heart Association and the University of Colorado School of Medicine discovered that risk of heart failure or stroke & nbsp; decreased by 8% for every extra cup of coffee a day.
  • t

  • A UK study of 498,123 people revealed that those who usually drank coffee were between 10 and 15 percent less likely to die during any period of 10 years as non-coffee drinkers.
  • t

  • A Stanford University study that followed 100 people over several years and revealed that coffee drinkers tended to live longer than non-drinkers. Here, the theory - just a theory but still - was that the increase in caffeine consumption could counteract the "fundamental inflammatory mechanism associated with human aging".
  • t

  • A Spanish study found that drinking four cups of coffee a day resulted in 64% less risk of dying participants in the study compared to non-coffee drinkers. & nbsp;
