We told you that Energizer Power Max's P18K Pop would come to the World Mobile Congress this year, and I found the handset handsome when walking on the MWC grounds. Let me tell you this: it is both incredibly ugly and beautiful. This is the strangest phone I have ever touched, but there will definitely be a demand for this beast. Think about it, the Energizer P18K Pop is a 18,000 mAh battery that you only need to charge once a week and that also acts as a smartphone with a rather modern design. What's not to like that?
Well, size is something to fear. This "brick" measures 18 mm in thickness and weighs a ton compared to other smartphones. For the scale, the new Galaxy S10 is only 7.8 mm thick. It will not be the best device to use for long periods of time, as it will not be a comfortable experience. However, the phone fits in most pockets of pants, but you'd better carry it in your bag.
As for the phone part of the Energizer P18K Pop, we are looking at an all-screen model of the slider variety, with tiny cases. This means that the selfie camera, which has two lenses, slides up the phone each time you want to take a picture from the front. It's something we've seen on other all-screen devices. Leave the photo application and the camera automatically slides inside this imposing body.
The LCD measures 6.2 inches, offering full HD resolution and an 18: 9 image format. Everything is powered by a Mediatek MT P70 processor and 6 GB of RAM. We're also looking at 128GB of storage, microSD support, dual SIM connectivity, 4G, Wi-Fi 802.11 ac and USB-C with fast support. Energizer has made it clear that specifications may change before the phone is released.
At the back we have a triple lens camera, which is also the norm for the 2019 phones. But hilariously, this camera has a camera hump like the other phones with camera configurations similar rear. Again, this is a phone 18 mm thick; the company would surely have found a way to adjust the cameras deeper inside the handset and eliminate shocks.
Regarding the quality of the camera, the huge phone Energizer is not a Galaxy S10, but it is equipped with a sensor of 16 megapixels and a sensor of 2 megapixels in the front, as well as 12-megapixel, 5-megapixel and 2-megapixel sensors.
Speaking of internal space, the phone has also abandoned the 3.5mm headphone jack, which is a strange decision for a phone that clearly targets buyers who might not want to charge a phone every day. The same buyers will probably want to use the cheapest and most efficient helmets available.
