A Kentucky child was found alive three days after his disappearance Sunday night, according to Kentucky police.
A statement from the ministry indicated that around 14 hours. On Wednesday, 22-month-old Kenneth Howard was found "in the area of an open pit mine in Floyd County on the Magoffin County border". The area is about 1,700 feet from his home, according to WYMT, in eastern Kentucky.
At a press conference, officials said the crews had found Howard when they had heard crying. They said that he was on a 50-foot slope, clinging to a cliff.
Officials said they had to use a rope and a basket to save the toddler, conscious and alert throughout this ordeal.
Kentucky state police said that Howard had been taken to a medical center and that, according to the Magoffin County Sheriff's Department, he was being treated for dehydration, but was nevertheless "in remarkable condition".
Elden Howard, Kenneth's father, told WYMT that he was "incredulous" in the face of his son's discovery. "He tickled me, he said, the best thing that happened to me in my life."
The rescuers would be just as surprised that the boy managed to cover such a difficult terrain.

The toddler was reported missing Sunday evening around 7:30. The family spent time searching for it before calling the police less than an hour later.
Family members said they did not know exactly how the child had disappeared, but some people believe that he may have gone out the back door of their home, WYMT reported.

Search and rescue officials told the station that they were using all their resources, including helicopters, drones with thermal imaging cameras, and several K-9 teams with bloodhounds to comb the wooded area near home for about 67 hours until they find the baby.
"He's tough, this little boy is … I can not believe any help, I do not know how we're going to thank everyone, but we've had people from all over. really not where all they have come from, out of state and everywhere to help us, "said Brent Handshoe, Deputy Fire Chief of South Magoffin, WYMT.
"I was dead from cold and wet and every time I thought I was cold, I was thinking about that baby and then I was starting to cry," he said. "I do not know, I just did not want to give it up."

The Kentucky state police said they were continuing to investigate what had happened and about Howard's disappearance.
