A Florida man was arrested and accused of using Instagram to lure a 17-year-old girl living in two US states, before sexually assaulting him.

According to an affidavit relating to his arrest, Richard Brown, 25, would have made a friendship with this girl via Instagram, claiming to be 19 years old and a star on the social media platform, an affiliate in Orlando CBS reported. The girl reportedly told the police that she had run away from her home and that she was talking with Brown via the app for three months, until she got home. he decides to take her to Florida.

Police said Brown had paid more than $ 800 for the Uber rides that had driven the girl through Texas and Louisiana, and then to his home in Apopka, Florida. The teenager told the police that when she had learned that she had been lied to, he told her "No, you owe me now for bringing it so far," reported an affiliate of ABC.

The girl told the police that she had been sexually beaten for three days and was able to escape on Wednesday when Brown was asleep. She contacted her mother and called 911.

Brown told the police that he was "only friends" with the teenager and that she needed a place to stay. He denied having sexual contact with her and stated that he thought he was 18, according to the affidavit.

"We are seeing several inconsistencies with this affidavit," said Brown's lawyer, according to a local Fox affiliate. "The victim told the police that she had met Mr. Brown via Instagram but that his account had been hacked" and that she "could not download the messages to show the police."

Brown and his attorney could not be contacted immediately by the Washington Post for comment.

Brown was arrested Thursday and incarcerated in an Orange County jail. He faces several crime charges, including the sexual battery of a child aged 12 to 17 years old by a person over 18 years old; contribute to the delinquency of a minor; and sexual acts with a child of 16 or 17, according to the county's website.
