SUN CITY CENTER, FLORIDA (FOX 13) – Health officials confirmed that a downtown Sun City restaurant worker had tested positive for hepatitis A. They now encourage all visitors to the Sandpiper Grille to get vaccinated because of a possible exhibition.
A restaurant food service employee, located at 1702 S Pebble Beach Blvd, was tested positive for the highly contagious disease, according to the Hillsborough County Health Department.
Officials said anyone who ate or drank at the restaurant between March 20 and 24 should be vaccinated against hepatitis A. Those who have already received the vaccine do not need another vaccine.
The symptoms of hepatitis A include jaundice (yellowing and white eyes), fever, diarrhea, fatigue, loss of appetite, nausea and vomiting, stomach pain, dark urine or stool pale or clayey.
Anyone who has been exposed can get the vaccine for free at the Sulfur Springs Health Complex, located at 8605 Mitchell Ave. in Tampa, weekdays between 7:30 am and 3:30 pm A special vaccination clinic will also be held on Saturday at Joyce Ely Health Center, located at 205 14 Ave SE in Ruskin, between 9 am and 1 pm
