The judges, in an unsigned order, granted the request of the administration to file redacted copies of the briefs filed under seal at an earlier stage of a mystery company case that was giving a quotation to appear before the grand jury. The decision gives the potential that more information eventually becomes public.
The case concerns a public limited company owned by a foreign government fighting a summons to appear before a grand jury. The lower courts said the company had to release the information and impose increasingly onerous fines for non-compliance. The company is also asking the Supreme Court to appeal.
The court rejected a request that a group, the rapporteur for freedom of the press, intervene in this case.
