The suspect of the death of a Tennessee officer was arrested Monday morning, police said.

Janet Elaine Hinds, 54, returned a few hours after the Tennessee Investigation Bureau placed her on her list of the ten most wanted people, announced the Chattanooga Police Department on Twitter.

The agency said Hinds was wanted for the homicide vehicle in the death of Nicholas Galinger. The 38-year-old officer was hit Saturday night while he was inspecting a water-logged sewer plate that resulted from it as a result of heavy rains.

According to news agencies, a police affidavit said that Mr. Hinds was accelerating, crossed a double yellow line and hit a warning sign indicating that the sewer plate was exposed before hitting Galinger . She then left the scene, the police said.

The court records show that she faces several other charges, including reckless driving, leaving the scene of the accident and violating a traffic signal device.

During a court appearance on Monday, prosecutors pleaded for a stronger bond, but Hinds' lawyer Ben McGowan said she had close ties to the community, which she said was important. She had raised her family there and she was the postmaster Soddy-Daisy. The judge fixed the bond at $ 300,000.

Galinger graduated from the police academy last month and was struck by a call with his training officer in the field.

Police recovered a Honda CR-V from Hinds' residence on Sunday. The vehicle was damaged at the front.

Chattanooga Police Chief David Roddy said the community "has not lost a single officer, we have lost a son, a father, a friend and a protector".
